A Sydney Children’s Hospital Stage 1 and Minderoo Children’s Comprehensive Cancer (SCH1/MCCCC) redevelopment-themed space has been launched in the main entrance area of Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, providing a comfortable area to share information about the new hospital and research centre, and to host an array of activities for children and families.

The space, which was refurbished by project builder John Holland Group with support from Foxville Projects Group, is in the admissions area near the High Street entrance to hospital.

Launched in late August with an inaugural event, project team members welcomed hospital visitors to the new space, providing information about the redevelopment and hosting activities for children.

With August being Building Month at Starlight Children’s Foundation, there was also a special appearance from the iconic Starlight captains.

The redevelopment team will partner with health organisations and other departments at the hospital to host monthly themed sessions in the area, with a focus on public health information, cultural events and educational sessions.

The purpose of the space is to have a presence in the existing hospital, to educate the community about what’s in store for the new building, and to answer any questions.

"With different activities and information planned every month, we hope to welcome many people to the space over the next year,” said SCH1/MCCCC Redevelopment Project Director Cathy Lovell.
