On 17 December 2021, the NSW Department of Planning Environment (DPE) approved the State Significant Development application (SSD-10831778) for construction and use of a new 12-storey hospital building (including two basement levels and upper plant room) for the Sydney Children’s Hospital and Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre. The planning approval is the result of a thorough assessment of the proposal and its environmental impacts. Current status of works
Enabling and early works for the project commenced in early 2022 under separate planning approvals and were completed in mid-2022. Works for the project approved under SSD-10831788 commenced in September 2022, with initial activities including site establishment activities, installation of work sheds, earthworks, piling and bulk excavation, followed by main works construction. Construction completion is expected in 2025.
